Meet Our Doctors
Brent T. Allen, M.D., R.V.T., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Brent Allen is a graduate of Utah State University in Logan, UT and Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, and a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Allen is Board Certified in both General Surgery and in his subspecialty field Vascular Surgery.
Omar M. Guerra, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Omar Guerra is a Board Certified general surgeon and a member of the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico in 1999, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Todd K. Howard, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Todd Howard was born in Buffalo, NY and after receiving his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, graduated from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1981. Following his residency at Maine Medical Center and a fellowship in Transplation Surgery at both the University of Pittsburgh and Baylor University Medical Center, Dr. Howard accepted a position as the Director of Liver and Kidney Transplantation at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 1992.
Eric D. Lederman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Eric Lederman is a graduate of Yale University and Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Surgery at the Albany Medical Center in Albany , NY and a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at St. Louis University. Dr. Lederman is Board Certified in both General Surgery and his subspecialty field of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Lawrence G. Mendelow, M.D., F.A.C.S.
One of the original members of Suburban Surgical Associates, Dr. Mendelow is a surgical specialist in the treatment of diseases of the colon and rectum. After completing college and medical school at Duke University in North Carolina , Dr. Mendelow pursued his initial surgical training at Washington University and the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis .
Jack Oak, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Jack Oak received his undergraduate degree in Biology with honors at Stanford University. He received his medical degree from the University of California at San Diego. He finished his general surgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis. He also completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Oak is board certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery.
Craig R. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Craig R. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board certified general surgeon on staff at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Smith graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1995. He completed his surgical residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University Department of Surgery. Dr. Smith completed a three year research fellowship sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.
Alyssa Wait, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Wait obtained her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, where she graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her general surgery training at IUSOM. Dr. Wait spent two years as a research fellow at Washington University in St. Louis in the department of colorectal surgery. Dr. Wait completed a clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. She joined IUSOM to provide services for the Department of Surgery in the division of colon and rectal surgery. In August 2018, Dr. Wait moved back to St. Louis and Joined Suburban Surgical where she will provide surgical services under the colon and rectal division. She is a member and fellow of American College of Surgeons as well as the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Jeffrey E. Zuke, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Jeffrey Zuke, the co-founder of Suburban Surgical Associates, was born and raised in St. Louis. Following graduation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, he received general surgery residency training at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis from 1979-1985, including a six month surgery fellowship in London, England. He was board certified in General Surgery in 1986 and re-certified in 1996 and in 2006. Dr. Zuke’s practice includes surgery of abdominal organs, hernias, thyroid disorders, vascular access and laparoscopic surgery.
